What do you see when you look at me
Do you see someone deserving of pity?
Am I strong and tall like a coconut tree
With arms stretched out freely
Tell me what you see?
Do I bend in the wind
Like the branches of a willow tree
Head hanging low
Do you feel sorry for me?
What image do I represent?
Is my scent that of jasmine
Does my hourglass shape scream feminine?
Are my legs long and lean?
Do they tell a story of where I have been?
What do you see when you look at me?
I’ll tell you what you should see
A woman with a destiny
Filled with strength, love and endless capacity
To embrace and overcome challenges
To endure, explore
A woman whose heart is pure
To love and care for those she holds near
Her friends and her family.
